new water park with whale/fish theme, Santa Barbara Mission (kids loved running around on the large grass area), very nice zoo there, a really nice path along the ocean, you can rent all sorts of bikes, natural history museum has hands-on exhibits for the little ones, top-notch parks throughout the city,  beach,  railroad museum in Goleta with train ride.
		
	MONTEREY
Lodging Choices: Embassy Suites Seaside, Marina Dunes, Hyatt Regency Monterey, Best Western Monterey (on beach) 
Attractions: Aquarium (museum offers overnight programs, aquarium detectives, and SNUBA in it bay for kids), beach, downtown, Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Dennis the Menace park, kayaking (Elkhorn Slough is easy and has a rental company right there, lots of seals and otters), biking on bike path  (rent canopy bikes and put children in seats), My Museum childrens museum (in parking lot building by aquarium), Oceans 18 Miniature Golf (in American Tin Cannery outlet, indoors glow-in-the-dark), Monterey Bay Chocolate Factory
Nearby in Salinas- The Farm (gives tours and you can pick produce), Wild Things- houses wild animals used in movies and offers tours at 1:00 
			
CAPITOLA
Lodging Choices:  Venetian (quaint but not fancy, kitchens and bedrooms), Best Western the the Sea, private rentals
Great beach town, walk to everything (ice cream, restaurants, toy store, wine tasting, , day trip to Monterey or Santa Cruz, Roaring Camp

	KONOCTI HARBOR, CLEAR LAKE
Not fancy- Cottages, marina, boats, water, kiddie pool, pools, spa, restaurants, kids programs, playground, outdoor concerts with kids program	


		
	YOSEMITE
